 History of Kentucky Republican Women 

 

Kentucky’s first republican women’s club was started

in Lee County on October 20, 1929.

The Louisville Jefferson County Republican Women’s Club

was founded in 1939 by a group of ladies whose husbands

belonged to the Lincoln Club of Kentucky.

Governor Simeon S. Willis’ wife met with a group of women

to form the Kentucky Federation in 1947.

The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: Women's Right to Vote was ratified on August 18, 1920.

"The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”
